Dad had a leaning towards engineering all of his life, and even from a young age was a dab hand at turning just about anything into something useful. His first truck was a clear example, and the ubiquitous "gas producer" fuel alternative another.

In Nov 1935, not long after he was married, Dad bought what was then a pretty decent Bedford truck, and used it on their scrub farm out at Pordia, and a few years later, when the farm lost its viability, as a cartage contractor in the district. He was proud of his truck, and took a heap of snaps in its many guises.
