Before the Tod pipeline came through from Pt Lincoln in the mid 1920s, community water catchments around the granite outcrops were used, channeling run-off into coffer dams. This was then hand pumped into water tanks mounted on the farm drays. Other than that, each household used roof run-off into corrugated iron tanks.
